Standard of Design
- Nicklaus Design brings 30 years of experience gained through 300 projects, including some of the world’s top assignments.
- No detail is overlooked during the design and construction of a Nicklaus golf course.
- Nicklaus Design works hard to seamlessly integrate the course with the landscape and the urbanization, using indigenous species to help create a more natural setting and reduce the need for water.
- Golf courses of maximum playability: all levels of play. Nicklaus designs are aimed at all.
Maximum Playability
- It’s easy to design a golf course for strong players.
- It’s easy to design a golf course for weaker players.
- It’s difficult to design a golf course that is interesting for all levels of player.
- That’s what Nicklaus Design always tries to do.
This means everyone from a complete novice to Jack Nicklaus can enjoy the course.
Which means there’s a bigger market for the golf course.
Which means the golf course, whether you play golf or not, adds more value to your property.
How do they do it?
By being creative…
Staggered teeing grounds to give weaker players not only shorter distances, but also better angles of play.
By giving players options: different routes, choices etc. Players choose the risks they take on.
Features such as raised greens surrounded by mown chipping areas: a hazard that complicates play around the greens for better players, while at the same time creating easier options for higher handicap players.
Environmental factors
- State-of-the-art water management and recycling systems mean we don’t waste a drop water.
- We choose grass with low water consumption and high tolerance of salinity for our golf courses.
By the end of 2006, 79 Nicklaus courses have been chosen to host more than 500 professional tournaments or national amateur championships.
